Many years ago people worshiped Lord Kothanda Ramar know as “Shri Raghunathar”,Hence this place called as Raghunathapuram. (later on it changed to Saidapet – During Mughal period the name changed to Sayyid Khan Pettah by army commander Sayyid Khan We have enough proof for the old name).
A famous temple at West Saidapet - Sri Prasanna Venkata Narasimha Perumal temple. It was told that the temple was constructed in the middle of 15th century but according to records it is 750 yrs old. According to some old inscription of the temple during the period of Vijayanagar Empire with the help of nayakkers / chettiyars i.e Telugu speaking governors, have build lot of temples in Tamil Nadu, South India. As per mythology SRI PRASANNA VENKATESA PERUMAL alone incarnated in karbagraga with Sri Devi and BooDevi. Prasanna Venkata Narshimar due to the visit of Theliyasingher who is kovthugar of the temple (PARTHSARTHY) temple. Also once in a year PARTHASARTHY PERUMAL visits this temple.
Goddess here is ALARMELMANGAI Thayar. Believed that idol got from PAMBU PUTTRU. Other deities RAMAR with Lakshmanan, Sita, Anjaneeyar and Andal, Chakarathalwar and other azhwars.....There are many Utsavams, like Brhamotsavam, Thota utsavam, Pavithrotsavam, Vasanthotsvam, Alwhar & Acharya's utsavam
SENAI MUDALIAR (Visvekshenar), NAMMALWAR and THIRUMANGAI ALWAR a great warrior and became a king later in South India, all the three in one sannady.
SRI RAM, SEETHA DEVI and LAKSHMAN in one sannady, just opposite to Ramar sannady about 30' away ANJENEYAR sannady is in existence where he is in most submissive mood with enormous might to bless the workshipper.

ALARMELU MANGAI THAYAR sannady situated on southern side behind the perumal sannady,
ANDAL SANNADY situated on the Northern side behind the perumal sannady, all facing east. At the entrance on the Southern side there is madaippalli where Thaligai Prasadam (Holy Food) will prepare for the God and Godesses of the temple and such prasadam will be distributed to all irrespective of the cost and religion. Adjacent to madaippalli a dazzling Unjal Mandapam is situated where performance of dancing is carried out for Lord Venkata Perumal during festival seasons at a grand scale.
Very near to temple premises on the Southern side there is a Pushkarani (Holy Tank).
